Chief Solano Bust Returned to Vacaville
Chief Solano Bust created by artist William Gordon Huff
The bust of Chief Solano was reunited with the City of Vacaville last spring through the efforts of the Pena Adobe Historical Society.
Loaned to Solano County government several years ago by Vacaville, the bust was ceremoniously unveiled at the spring Fandango. After the two-day event, Chief Solano was moved to the Mowers-Goheen Museum.
The bust was created by William Gordon Huff, “sculpture” of the 12 foot tall bronze statue of Chief Solano, which today stands in front of the Old Library in Fairfield. The bust at the Mowers-Goheen Museum is a plaster model of the head of the Chief Solano statue.
