On Saturday, September 6th, from 11:00 to 2:00, The Peña Adobe Historical Society will host NorCal Bats and JnW Reptile Rescue at the Peña Adobe Park.  The park is located at Peña Adobe Road off Interstate 80 in Vacaville.

Are you interested in learning about bats, learning to care for them or teaching others about these incredible, gentle animals? NorCal Bats is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of bats throughout Northern California. Meet the founder of NorCal Bats and environmental educator Corky Quirk and visit with her bats! No need to worry about Corky’s bats and disease because they are ambassador bats! They go through quarantine, are not exposed to wild bats and have all been vaccinated. Corky and her team are committed to public education regarding the environmental benefits of bats and dispelling fears and myths that lead to the death of roosts and colonies.

JnW Reptile Rescue and Rattlesnake Removal is dedicated to the education, rehabilitation, and when appropriate re-homing of reptiles. Joe Lam and Wendy Rozonewski of JnW Reptile Rescue, believe that education is the key to prevent and stop animal abuse.  Joe and Wendy have been active in the reptile rescue scene in Northern California for years, at JnW Reptile Rescue, they house over 300 reptiles in need.  Come to Peña Adobe and get up close and personal with these amazing animals!

When you’re not visiting with Corky’ bats or Joe and Wendy’s reptiles, bring a picnic, sit back and listen to the music of the Vacaville Jammers.  Tour the Peña Adobe, California Historical Landmark #534, built by the Peña family in 1842, and the adjacent Mowers-Goheen Museum.  Docents will be on hand to conduct tours and answer questions about the Peña and Vaca families
