Visit the Pena Adobe Historical Society the Dixon Library on Saturday, November 22nd!
In celebration of Native American Heritage month, the Peña Adobe Historical Society will visit the Dixon Library to share the history of the local Patwin Native Americans who lived here long before the Vacas and Peñas arrived in 1841.
On Saturday morning, November 22nd from 10:00am until 1:00pm, Library visitors will have an opportunity to play a drum and clapsticks made by Peña Adobe Historical Society member and Native American James Tunstall. He will be joined by Native American docent Armando Perez who shared his story as a youth living on an Indian Reservation while Darlene Stewart, a 5th generation Peña, will help children make corn husk dolls and everyone will have a chance to try a Native American Pump Drill using shells to form necklaces.
