Happy Holidays from the Peña Adobe Historical Society!

During 2025, the Peña Adobe Historical Society welcomed just over 1850 visitors to private tours, school field trips and open house events at the Peña Adobe!. Events included “Kids Day at the Adobe”!  The Congressional Gunfighters of America & American Historical Brass Band Society joined us for our “Western Day” open house and we welcomed back the Buffalo Soldiers and the Solano County Sheriff’s Posse for our June open house.  The California Hawking Club brought their birds of prey for a visit and in September we welcomed NorCal Bats and JnW Reptiles.  Flute maker Fernando Borrayo of Sacred Sounds Flutes and Lakota drum maker Richard Flittie helped us celebrate Native American Heritage Month and from Willis Jepson Middle School Mariachi band, El Mariachi Los Jaguares joined us for our “Hispanic Heritage Month” celebration!

During the summer it’s all about Camp Adobe!  During the ten-week summer program the Peña Adobe Historical Society hosted over 435 campers as they toured the Peña Adobe & Museum and learned of the Native Americans who lived here before the Vaca and Peña families arrived in 1841.  This year, campers learned how to work with tule as the local Native Americas did, each camper made a tule bracelet to wear!  Campers also visited with McQueeny’s goats from Napa, Alexis Joseph’s miniature horses and chickens from Lucky Ones Animal Sanctuary!  Campers learned about chores the Peñas did in the 1800’s, laundry, making butter and cattle roping!  We finished the summer camp season with a visit from Cal Fire and the Solano County Sheriff K9 unit!

As we close the 2025 year, we look forward to seeing you in 2026 at one of our tours, special events or open houses at Peña Adobe and the Mowers-Goheen Museum.  For now, you can enjoy our local history by visiting the following sites:
