Celebrate an Early Halloween at Peña Adobe!  Saturday, October 3, 2026

Saturday, October 03, 2026
8:00am to 11:00am

On Saturday, October 3rd from 11:00 to 2:00, The Peña Adobe Historical Society will celebrate an early Halloween with guests The Pet Shoppe, NorCal Bats and Rush Ranch’s Dennis Wells at the Peña Adobe Park.  The park is located at Peña Adobe Road off Interstate 80 in Vacaville.

Are you interested in learning about bats, learning to care for them or teaching others about these incredible, gentle animals? NorCal Bats is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of bats throughout Northern California. Meet the founder of NorCal Bats and environmental educator Corky Quirk and visit with her bats! No need to worry about Corky’s bats and disease because they are ambassador bats! They go through quarantine, are not exposed to wild bats and have all been vaccinated. Corky and her team are committed to public education regarding the environmental benefits of bats and dispelling fears and myths that lead to the death of roosts and colonies.

The Pet Shoppe is home to dozens of happy critters, from reptiles and rats to tarantulas. Dale Millhollin, Erin Spencer and Dale’s daughter Annabella, focus on education as they share their love for animals.  They have earned a reputation of being “knowledgeable” and “friendly” at their shop on 2144 Springs Rd in Vallejo.

Dennis Wells will be joining the fun!  Dennis is a dedicated docent volunteer and handyman for the Solano Land Trust.  He can often be found at Rush Ranch sharing his snakes!  Come to Peña Adobe and get up close and personal with all of these amazing animals!

When you’re not visiting with Corky’s bats, Dennis’ snakes or Erin & Dale’s critters, sit back and listen to the music of the Vacaville Jammers.  Tour the Peña Adobe, California Historical Landmark #534, built by the Peña family in 1842, and the adjacent Mowers-Goheen Museum.  Kiddies can have their face painted and enjoy treats while docents will be on hand to conduct tours and answer questions about the Peña and Vaca families.

This event is free!  There is no charge for admission to the park, adobe or museum.  For questions call (707) 447-0518 or e-mail penaadobe@gmail.com.
