Happy Holidays!

2021’s challenges were many but as the COVID-19 directives lifted for portions of the year, this summer we were able to participate with the City of Vacaville’s Camp Adobe.  During the eight-week summer program the Peña Adobe Historical Society hosted campers as they toured the Peña Adobe and participated in educational programs.

This year we were able to host only three open house events, “Western Day” in August, September’s “Fiesta Days at the Adobe” and in October our final open house for 2021 welcomed the Buffalo Soldiers and the Solano County Sheriff’s Posse.

The City of Vacaville “KidFest” held each October at Andrews Park was cancelled for 2020 & 2021.  “Kids Day at the Adobe” held each October at the Adobe was also cancelled for 2020 & 2021.  “Merriment On Main” 2020 & 2021 held the first Tuesday after Thankskgiving were both cancelled.  Each year Peña Adobe hosts “A Victorian Christmas at the Adobe” on the first Saturday of each December.  As both events are well participated by children, we also cancelled our holiday event.

We look forward to 2022 as COVID restrictions for children ages 5-11 allow us to responsibly host ”Kids’ Day at the Adobe” and “A Victorian Christmas at the Adobe” once again.

Until the day when we can welcome you back to the Peña Adobe, we want to thank you for all your support during this, yet another challenging year.  Without friends, supporters and donors, we would not be able to continue the work of preserving the Peña Adobe, California Historical Landmark #534.

From all of us at the Peña Adobe Historical Society, we wish you a happy and safe Holiday Season!
