Happy America 250th!  Many businesses, including The Peña Adobe Historical Society were closed on July 4th weekend to observe Independence Day. We joined the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary at Vacaville’s 4th of July celebration Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the CreekWalk Plaza at Andrews Park.

The evening featureed live entertainment by Fog City Swampers, a classic rock band, followed by a fireworks display.  Park visitors enjoyed a variety of food vendors, non-food vendors, and community organizations, including Daughters of the Revolution (DAR), Rowland Freedom Center, Peña Adobe Historical Society, Vacaville Heritage Council, and more! Many guests captured their memories at the Pixcbooth.

Four volunteers staffed the Peña Adobe Historical Society’s booth for Fourth of July Celebration.  We chatted with just over 300 park attendees and distributed 100 US flags!  Park visitors learned about the first settlers in the Vaca Valley, the Peñas and the Vacas had the opportunity to use the quill pens and oak gall ink to practice writing their names, just as the Founding Fathers did in 1776 when they signed the Declaration of Independence!
