Vacaville Parks and Recreation hosted its first-ever Kids Fishing Day!  The free event designed to teach children ages 15 and under about fishing!

The event started at 8:30am as kiddies and parents lined up to collect fishing poles and bait provided by Fish & Wildlife volunteers while some anglers brought their own poles!

Local Scouts and Fish & Wildlife volunteers were on-site to help with tying knots, casting and reeling, catching, cleaning & cooking your fish on the BBQs!  Peña Adobe Historical Society staffed a booth and shared the rich history of the Lagoon Valley when the Peñas and the Vacas settled there in 1842.

The Lagoon Valley Lake was stocked with farm-raised rainbow trout provided by Fish & Wildlife and made for great fun well past the 1:30 conclusion.
